Family Fun on Land and Water
Beautiful Inks Lake State Park offers family fun on both water and land so why not experience both? With its sparkling blue water, colorful rock outcrops, and striking sunsets, this gem of the Hill Country is just an hour northwest of Austin, making it great for a day trip or a weekend getaway. On land, you can camp, backpack, geocache, play volleyball, picnic, and observe nature. They have nine miles of hiking trails through shady forests and across rocky hills. Hike Pecan Flats, a self-guided 3.3-mile trail that is perfect for the whole family, or stop by their bird blind. Rent the group picnic pavilion for your next family reunion. On the water, you can swim (no lifeguards on duty), boat, water ski, scuba dive and fish. They have set aside a large, no-wake zone for paddling. As for your accommodations, there are a total of 22 cabins available to rent at Inks Lake State Park, each of which can house up to four individuals. Inside you'll find everything you need to enjoy a weekend of "roughing it." Hop into one of the sets of bunkbeds to really get into the outdoorsy spirit.
